The Marketing Associate will report to the Director of Marketing and will provide a wide range of administrative and marketing support on behalf of Basic Books and Seal Press, including the coordination of marketing campaigns for roughly 20 titles/year across both lists, from planning through implementation.


Independently run marketing campaigns for select titles across the Basic Books and Seal Press lists
Coordinate sales materials and answer general queries for the sales representatives
Organize mailings to bookstores
Work with third-party organizations and businesses to create cross-promotional opportunities for books and authors
Manage social media for the department including content creation and scheduling
Communicate with senior staff, media, booksellers, as well as authors and literary agents
Coordinate the Basic Books/Seal Press seasonal catalog production process
Coordinate creation of promotional graphics with design department
Admin duties include: route copy, code invoices, coordinate mailings, schedule meetings, record and distribute meeting
minutes, and create and distribute weekly reports.


Interest in book publishing is essential, along with a strong interest in marketing.
College degree preferred, minimum of one year of work experience in a fast-paced environment.
Solid computer skills, including familiarity with MS Word and Excel
Proficient with social media, content creation, and scheduling
Familiarity with project management software preferred
Strong communication skills are essential (verbal and written)
The successful candidate must be able to work both independently, on assigned campaigns, and as part of a team.
