Role Summary
The Editorial Director will manage and mentor the editorial team and provide support to the publisher on development and execution of long-term strategy for the division.

Primary Responsibilities
Leadership of Developmental Editorial Department
• Work directly with key authors to nurture and grow those relationships
• Identify and acquire new key authors
• Supervise and manage the Developmental Editorial staff of 7 to meet performance expectations and achieve desired results
• Train and develop the editorial team to improve their performance, skills and advance in their roles and careers
• Adjust and maintain effective structure and roles of the editorial department
• Lead editorial projects that involve major change initiatives (such as “faster to market” initiative)
• Acquire and edit approximately 3-4 books per year

Cross-functional Leadership and Strategic Integration
• Coordinate and collaborate with PR, Marketing and Sales
• Participate in project teams to represent editorial functional areas
• Participates in Senior Leadership Teams that carry a high level of responsibility for overall company outcomes

Stewardship of Product Line
• Partner with Publisher on long-term strategy for approximately 60 titles annually
• Lead editorial team in all aspects of editorial responsibilities, including acquisitions, packaging, positioning, and scheduling
• Steward the direction, growth, and overall health of the book product line
• Identify content trends and changing customer expectations
• Utilize a data driven approach, so that content decision making becomes faster and more effective & mentor the team to do the same

Desired Skills, Experience and Education
• Bachelors degree required
• 3+ years senior leadership experience
• Broad knowledge of non-fiction subject areas and specialty knowledge in categories such as wellness, personal growth, new age, spirituality and business.
• Strong financial literacy
• Adept with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
• Familiar with Box, Project Management systems and software, such as Asana
• Experience in the online media publishing/social media world a plus
