We are looking for a highly organized, efficient, and versatile assistant to the CEO who possesses considerable independent judgement and exceptional written/oral communication skills.

An integral member of the Senior Management Team, employees in this position manage the communications and day-to-day responsibilities of the CEO and often serve as the first point of contact between the CEO and the management team, high-profile clients, agents, publishers, editors, various organizations, and the general public.

This role requires exceptional communication and customer service skills in a fast-paced and high-energy environment. The CEO’s assistant must be self-sufficient, quick-thinking, results driven, and able to solve problems independently and handle numerous responsibilities with varying and shifting degrees of priority.

The ideal candidate will have worked previously as a literary agent, literary agent’s assistant, or in a similar role in the publishing industry. The ideal candidate will have a passion for books and the publishing industry

Preference will be given to candidates with prior executive assistant experience. This position will be primarily work-from-home with the occasional need to commute to our office for meetings once it is safe and acceptable to do so.

● Coordinating larger scale projects with CEO, clients, and management team
● Coordinating CEO’s priorities
● Handling CEO’s calls, emails, and communicating on his behalf
● Managing and writing/editing contracts, proposals, and various paperwork and team/client correspondence
● Maintaining CEO’s calendars and scheduling appointments with agents, publishers, and clients
● Writing, editing, and formatting memos, emails, proposals, contracts, and other related documents
● Booking and coordinating travel accommodations
● Performing other related duties as assigned
● Representing the CEO in various meetings
● Responding to inquiries and forwarding to the appropriate person/department as needed
● Preparing and delivering a wide range of services related to the needs and duties of the CEO and KAA in general
● Preparing and organizing presentations and related binders, documents, and AV needs
● Reviewing and assessing a variety of materials (e.g. book proposals) to ensure they meet the expected quality standards of the CEO

● Bachelor's Degree
● Excellent proofreading and copy editing skills
● Expert-level MS Word skills
● Previous professional experience in the publishing industry is ideal but not required
● A quiet home office where calls (audio and video) can be attended without background noise or interruptions
● Must live in the Greater NYC Area (within a 2-hour commute is ideal)
● Must be willing/able to travel to the NYC office occasionally (once it is safe to do so)
● Highly skilled in both organization and time management
● Superb written and oral communication skills
● Excellent computer, tech, and administrative skills
● A flexible and adaptable approach to work with the ability to use one’s own initiative
● Tact and discretion for dealing with confidential information
● Detail-oriented and able to anticipate CEO’s needs and issues
● Must be tech savvy and able to learn, adapt, and master basic CRM and other related platforms quickly

Optional but Desirable Skills (please note these specifically in your application)
● Wordpress and/or HTML skills
● Social media expertise
● Marketing/advertising and related copy writing experience
● Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style
● Graphic design skills
● Sales experience
● Book-writing or editing experience
● Experience as a literary agent or acquisitions editor
● Extensive knowledge of the publishing industry, including hybrid and alternative publishing solutions
