Requirements:
Publishers abroad use scouts that know the US and UK book market and are able to communicate with local editors, agents and rights-people and can filter the information they receive according to the program-needs of those publishers.

We would like to build up an international scouting agency. We are looking for a partner who is a highly motivated and well-connected individual with a desire to build up this agency with us. We will support the starting and running of the agency. We need a partner to take charge of the business and to build the agency from scratch as a literary agency for the international market.

You will be employed with a fixed salary. As a shareholder you will receive a bonus for each successful year. We are looking for a person with a broad network, expertise, knowledge and work experience in the area of scouting in the US and of the UK market. Preferably, you have worked for a scouting agent before.

We need someone with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize. You need to have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, and of course, you must be passionate about books and enjoy a lot of reading!
We need an individual with the ability to travel, on occasion to our annual meetings and book fairs in London, Bologna and Frankfurt, as well as to book fairs in the USA. You will need to be able to work with MS Office products and schedule our appointments with your publishing house or agency contacts for the big book fairs stated above.
About Our
Company:
W1-Media is a middle sized and well connected publishing group based in Germany and Switzerland, which houses two adult publishing companies (Arche Literary Publishing and Atrium Publishing), a YA Publisher (Arctis), three childrens publishing houses (WooW Books, Atrium Children’s Books and von Hacht Publishing) and two audio-publishers. In addition, we also have the important US and EU picture book publisher, NorthSouth Books Inc., within our W1-Media Group.

Therefore, we are looking for someone who can report to us in the field of forthcoming fiction from the following markets: literary, upmarket, crime/suspense, nonfiction, gift books, young adult titles, middle grade children’s books and picture books. If you do not qualify for all of those sections, but for only one of them and you are interested, please get in touch anyway. As we want to build up an agency, we are willing to explore different options.

We believe in and empower our staff. You will be an employee, but also recruiting others over time – we need you to protect and empower your staff as well. We are treating each other with respect and trust, supporting work life balance and protecting the environment where possible. Of course, we enjoy working in the best business there is, and we are committed to publishing books that are fun and contribute to reader’s lives. We want to publish books that make a difference.
