We are seeking a highly-motivated individual with a career interest in sales to fill the new position of Specialist, Publications and Content Licensing Sales. This position provides high-level logistics support to the Society’s Sales Agent and Chief Publications Officer for the global selling and licensing of Society content, including journals, books, professional education materials, meeting session recordings, and patient education for the entire sales life-cycle including lead generation, client support, progress reporting, contracts, event logistics, marketing coordination, and deliverables management to meet revenue goals.

What you’ll bring to the job:

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Liberal arts, science, or business major highly desired
• Knowledge of STM publishing in clinical content is highly desirable
• At last 3 years of work experience supporting sales teams or other relevant work experience
• MS Office and database management skills
• Ability to learn new technology as required
• Ability to travel and work weekends or after-hours, on occasion
• Excellent oral and written communications as well as presentation and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment; must have a positive attitude and be able to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment

What you’ll own:

• Enter, track, and report out data on new sales leads, updated leads, clients, and contracts using Association Management Software (NetForum) and Microsoft products including SharePoint, Excel, and Power BI.
• Prepare presentations and reports using Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
• Provide exceptional follow through on tasks with customers/clients. Tasks include sending copies of books, various samples appropriate to the individual client, PDF links, maintaining an inventory of Society content available for licensing, etc.
• Demonstrate initiative by interpreting Sales Agent and Chief Publications Officer notes acquired through various channels (email, web, NetForum, etc.) and work proactively to acknowledge and confirm emails/requests in order to execute effectively.
• Exhibit proactive communication skills and effectiveness in ‘closing the loop’ on actions taken to ensure seamless support and communication with Sales Agent and Chief Publications Officer.
• Client delivery liaison for files/formats.
• Following through to ensure proper content file types are delivered and provides exceptional customer service ensuring customer needs are managed effectively.
• Effectively collaborating with production team to meet critical deadlines.
Support Sales Agent and Chief Publications Officer in working with the Society’s Education and other departments to introduce sales leads for that department’s content. Participate in ideating potential content or identifying content to meet clients’ needs. This may involve doing research with Society-based or external experts.
• Collaborate with the Society’s Marketing Department for following up on the Sales Agent’s and Chief Publications Officer’s needs for marketing actions. Ensure timely registration, booth selection, and other advance logistics for book fair and trade shows and ensure that materials sent to shows are accurately prepared, boxed, shipped, and monitored from ship date to end destination. Track, proof, and push marketing collateral through channels as needed.
• Execute licensing transactional matters once contract is signed: prepare transmittal form for invoicing (within 24 hours of executed agreements), log contracts to Society systems and update spreadsheets and databases (NetForum & SharePoint). Track client payments and work with the Society’s Finance Department to drive payments in or troubleshoot. Alert Sales Agent and Chief Publications Officer if intervention is needed for payment receivables not collected. Work closely with Finance to maintain brisk and timely invoicing and payment procedures. Keep Sales Agent and Chief Publications Officer regularly updated on clients’ payment status.
• Schedule client meetings/logistics: book fairs, other shows, and ongoing meetings throughout year. Sales Agent and Chief Publications Officer to handle larger, high priority/major clients as needed.
