Benefits:
Health; Dental; 401K
Duration:
Full Time
Location:
New York, NY
Requirements:
The Senior Editor will assist the Associate Publisher (based in London) with the development and delivery of Lonely Planet’s Illustrated Non-fiction and Reference lists for publication globally. This includes gift, general reference, stationery and illustrated books, and excludes guidebooks and children’s books.

Responsibilities include acquisitions, editing and project management – our Editors see a book all the way through from ideation and budgeting, through acquisitions and commissioning, to editing and getting the final product print-ready. This means budgeting and commissioning all content (text, images, illustrations and maps), as well as performing the day-to-day project management required to deliver a book – on time and on budget – from creation of the business case through product design, commissioning, production, pre-press and post production.

This role has special responsibility for ensuring that the Illustrated Non-fiction list meets the needs of the North American market, advising the rest of the team, which is based in London. It will also be tasked with producing bespoke US products and covers as needed, so great ideas, creativity and an understanding of book design are important.
