Overview:
We are creating a new position for a literary agent who will join a team of thirteen, including four other agents, to build their own list of clients. We expect any candidate to share our commitment to research and expert-driven nonfiction; to be an avid reader of such—including books by our authors; and to seek out academics and writers who change the way we see the world. Prior experience as either an agent or an acquiring editor is required.

Core responsibilities:
• Identify and sign new clients.
• Develop book proposals for sale, seeding interest in and securing deals for new projects with US publishers.
• Collaborate with in-house foreign rights group to sell client projects abroad; with contracts to negotiate agreements; and with finance on client accounts.
• Adeptly manage client business over the course of the publishing process and book-writing careers.
• Read for, support, and advise fellow agents.
• Assist with marketing of the agency and its authors, for instance, in conjunction with the London and Frankfurt Book Fairs.
