NYU Press is looking for a unique individual to join our growing Business department. The right candidate will be a curious, quick learner who is able to master the systems that keep the Press running, as well as someone who can skillfully manage people and practices to ensure workflows are operating in a smooth and timely fashion.

The Publishing Operation Specialist, working independently as well as in conjunction with the Business Operations Manager, ensures that the Press’s business systems are functioning at full capacity. This includes managing vendors and distributors, assisting customers and publishing partners, running reports, creating or improving processes and responding to co-worker enquires. Specific functions include:

• Support and train coworkers on business processes, procedures, and applications
• Manage the input, upkeep, and distribution of metadata
• Oversee the relationship with distribution clients and work to grow their business
• Administer customer service, order entry and desk, and exam copy mailings
• Maintain the flow of digital assets to eBook, print on demand and international partners
• Work with staff to develop best practices associated with daily operations
• Assist with onboarding new employees and student workers. Set up work stations, provide training in business applications

The position requirements include:
• 2+ years of publishing experience
• Strong technical proficiencies and the ability to work in both a MAC and PC environment
• Above-average problem-solving talents
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong Excel skills are a must. Experience with Biblio or Acumen as well as academic publishing a plus. The workload covers everything from entering data to working with management to shape the direction of the Press.
