Viking, Riverhead and Penguin Books imprints are seeking an Assistant/Associate Marketing Director to develop and execute marketing campaigns for a list of bestselling fiction and quality non-fiction books. The ideal candidate is someone who reads widely, communicates clearly, works independently, and is passionate about connecting writers with readers.

The Assistant/Associate Marketing Director:
* Develops, implements, and analyzes creative marketing campaigns for frontlist and backlist titles
* Works directly with the Publisher, Imprint Marketing Directors, Author, Editorial, Publicity, Sales, other internal departments and external contacts
* Collaborates with authors and agents to most effectively market their titles
* Delivers sound strategic plan recommendations based on a clear understanding of title-specific or imprint goals
* Responsible for all media/tie opportunities (tv, streaming, film), including communication with internal and external teams, including sales and production studios
* Co-manages and mentors a marketing assistant
* Works directly with our internal design department to strategize and develop creative ad campaigns
* Leverages Consumer Insights and analytics for targeting and messaging
* Communicates with the editorial, and publicity teams to leverage data findings into sales opportunities
* Understands current marketplace trends and ways to leverage frontlist or backlist titles
* Provides sales strategy and support for sell-in of individual titles
* Constructs social media strategy for platforms and titles including post-mortem analytics
* Assists authors with the development of their online/social media platforms

Requirements:
* Minimum five years prior experience in book marketing
* Strategic thinker, with ability to see the bigger picture, analyze all facets and think critically when solving problems, refining processes and developing campaigns.
* Experience leading creative and strategic campaigns
* People management experience a plus
* Ability to work with people at all levels
* Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
* Fluency in Google, Facebook/Instagram, and Amazon advertising – KPIs, audience segmenting and targeting, budget management, strategy etc.
* Strong knowledge of social media platforms – best practices, strategies and KPIs
* Experience applying consumer insights to marketing campaigns a plus
* Photoshop experience a plus
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong organizational skills
