Requirements:
We are seeking an Associate Director of Publicity with deep experience working on literary fiction and interest in working on nonfiction titles to join Gallery Books dynamic publicity department. In this role you will be responsible for the execution of major publicity campaigns as well as advising and directing other members of the department on their campaigns.

Responsibilities
• Coordinates all publicity activities on assigned titles from the development of strategic angles and pitches; schedules media mailings; executes multi-city author tours including bookstore, school, and festival appearances.
• Schedules interviews with broadcast, print and online media. Fosters and develops relationships with media and influencer contacts.
• Writes press releases and pitch letters, and other promotional materials relating to a book’s campaign.
• Develops and maintains close working relationships with members of the press (broadcast, radio/podcast, print, online, trades, etc.).
• Develops and strengthens bookseller contacts and relationships within the industry.
• Ensures strong relationships with existing authors, editors and agents.
• Works closely with marketing, sales, and editorial staffs.
• Briefs authors on how to handle interviews.

Qualifications:
• Significant prior work experience in publicity, with an emphasis placed on booking top-line media and author tours
• A proven ability to generate creative news angles
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, to meet tight deadlines with budgetary constraints and changing priorities (must be extremely flexible and versatile)
• Must be able to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
• Extensive knowledge of the media and a familiarity with book reviewers, magazine editors, and social media influencers
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
• Superb written, verbal and interpersonal skills are essential
• A college degree (BA or equivalent)
