We are a literary agency with a broad list seeking a Rights Director with significant experience in international rights. The director would oversee the sales of UK and translation rights to our projects working in conjunction with a network of co-agents and would oversee a team of 1-2 staff members, as well as manage and maintain relationships with foreign publishers, communicate information clearly and effectively with clients as well as agents and staff in-house, and travel to at least two international book fairs annually.

The position requires excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as strong organizational skills with the ability to create clear systems to keep track of the many deals we make. Knowledge of and relationships with acquiring editors in foreign territories and experience with co-agents are a plus. Knowledge of foreign contracts and experience negotiating foreign deals are a plus. Knowledge of BAITS is a plus. Fluency in foreign languages are a plus, but not required. The ideal candidate is highly responsible, super-organized, and highly adaptive with a solid understanding of international markets and the ability to manage time effectively.

Other responsibilities include organizing submission materials, supplying publishers with materials for production (copies for translation, final pdf files, illustrations and photographs), facilitating administration of foreign payments with our back office team, and tracking clients’ performance and coordinating publications in foreign markets.
