The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC - naeyc.org) is seeking a Director, Books (Editor-in-Chief) within the Publishing and Professional Learning division of NAEYC. The Director, Books leads the acquisitions and content development of NAEYC's professional books and book-related resources (print and digital). The Director, Books manages each stage of the book acquisitions, editing, and book positioning process. The person in this role looks for authors who can deliver manuscripts that are both well written and reflect up-to-date research in early childhood education. The Director, Books ensures the overall quality and content of the books NAEYC publishes reflect NAEYCs position statements and meet the professional needs of members and other early childhood education audiences. NAEYC books advance the thinking and practice of the early childhood field. The person in this position is familiar with publishing trends and can adapt the book department plans to stay current in both editorial processes and delivery mechanisms as well as with market trends and audience needs that impact books sales. The Director, Books is well versed in early childhood education research and topics and maintains the editorial standards of the book publishing program.
