The Interior Workflows Specialist will support editorial, interior design, composition, and epub workflows; specifically, MS Word, InDesign, ePUB, PDF, and HTML content creation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, documenting, training, and supporting users on the content creation workflows that support print and digital book production.

Major Responsibilities:

• Provide daily support for content creation workflows for MS Word, InDesign, PDF, ePub, XML, HTML
• Meet with internal production teams to standardize content creation procedures and workflows
• Document workflows, user guides, quick tip sheets, best practices, terms glossaries, etc.
• Create and execute training programs for production editors, designers, compositors, vendors, and other staff members
• Identify requirements related to content engineering via automation tools and draft development tickets; QA development work & confirm requirements are met
• Drive change throughout the organization, applying an inclusive, team-oriented mindset

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• In-depth knowledge of manuscript preparation and book composition practices
• Solid understanding of editorial and book production workflows, particularly interior content creation
• MS Office, with expertise in MS Word (including styles/templates)
• Expertise in Adobe InDesign, ePub, PDF
• Working knowledge of XML, HTML
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate across book production teams
• Working knowledge of CSS a plus

Experience Needed:

• 4+ years in a book production role: production editorial, design, or composition
• Experience drafting process documentation
• Training or teaching experience a plus
• Experience with CMS (technical or operational role) a plus
• XML-based workflow experience a plus

Educational Background Required:

• BA or equivalent work experience
