About Our
Company:
Encounter Books is an activity of Encounter for Culture and Education, a tax exempt, non-profit corporation dedicated to strengthening the marketplace of ideas and engaging in educational activities to help preserve democratic culture. With a strong, serious, best-selling, and quickly growing non-fiction list, Encounter Books maintains a position at the forefront of America’s intellectual imprints. In 2009 the publisher launched the Encounter Broadsides series, which currently boasts over 50 titles published on quick deadlines to provide the most relevant commentary on today’s hot-button political topics. Written by some of our most lively and perceptive commentators, they make the case for liberty and the institutions of democratic capitalism at a time when they are under siege from the resurgence of collectivist sentiment and anti-democratic feeling. And in an age where even the technologies of intellectual exchange are changing at lightning speed, all Encounter Books and Broadsides are available in a variety of ebook formats; increasingly, titles include multimedia enhancements in the form of embedded video and live internet links. Promoting intelligent debate and combating the current distortions of American past and present, Encounter is a leading voice in the dialogue of ideas.
