Acting as a central hub for all incoming & outgoing print metadata, IPG’s Data department is ever-evolving our processes and utilizing industry “best-practice” guidelines in the maintenance and distribution of IPG publisher metadata & image assets throughout a global supply chain. This solution-faced, entry-level Bibliographic Data Associate will be responsible for all updates and corrections to metadata. This is a strongly content-oriented role, with great value placed on ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, and communicate confidently

Responsibilities and Duties
• Direct review of all metadata updates submitted via ONIX, direct request, and IPG Publisher Resources. Outreach to clients to discuss and resolve problematic requests or updates. This is considered the primary job responsibility.
• Acting as a publisher liaison for a selection of distributed clients.
• Assisting in the collection and review of metadata and related assets.
• Conducting ongoing analysis of metadata with the goal of meeting publishing industry “best practice” standards.
• Conducting outreach to publishers to increase knowledge of healthy metadata standards.
• Fielding queries from publishers, accounts, and industry partners by phone and email.
• Direct review of all incoming editorial reviews and endorsements.
• Assisting with metadata related support of IPG business on Edelweiss and other partner platforms.
• Assisting direct manager on a variety of projects for overall improvement of asset quality.
• Assisting department with the launch of new distribution clients.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Library Sciences, or a related field required
• Publishing, library, or bookstore experience is highly preferred
• Detail-oriented with a strong ability to multi-task and project manage
• Ability to embrace constant evolution in processes and mastery of new tools
• Ability to communicate in a clear and authoritative fashion to internal and external parties
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other common Office software is required
• Any editorial skills and/or proficiency with the basics of proofing and copywriting is highly preferred
• Proficiency in XML and any familiarity with Crystal Reports, relational databases, ONIX standards; familiarity with data management at large is considered a great plus
• Any experience or familiarity with BISAC, BIC, or Thema code lists is a plus
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus
• Physical abilities: The ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time is required
