Bloomsbury Publishing is seeking a Production Editor for the adult trade division. Applicants should be self-motivated, organized, and attentive to detail.
Primary Responsibilities
• Coordinate with authors and with in-house editorial, design, and production departments to guide roughly twenty titles per year from manuscript to bound book
• Create and maintain book schedules
• Hire and supervise freelance copy editors, proofreaders, indexers, and text designers
• Review copyedited manuscripts, page proofs, jackets, and ebooks
• Copyedit jacket copy, catalog copy, reading group guides, and marketing material
• Attend weekly production meetings
• Bachelors degree or equivalent
• At least one year of experience in managing editorial
• Excellent copyediting and proofreading skills
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously
• Working knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style
• Fluency in Microsoft Word (particularly electronic editing in Track Changes), Excel, Adobe Acrobat
