Chronicle Books seeks a Trade Sales Rep to grow sales in all existing and new trade accounts within the Pacific Northwest territory, including regional wholesalers, museums, college and university bookstores, and trade independent bookstores. You will need to have proven success as a sales representative in the book and gift markets, meeting significant sales revenue targets. This position will be based in Seattle, WA or Portland, OR and will require travel (approximately 30% local, 20% overnight).

Responsibilities include:

• Presenting the frontlist to entire account base each season and proactively selling backlist throughout the year.
• Creating and executing merchandising plans while identifying areas of growth and opportunity in the account base.
• Acting as the expert and advocate for the Pacific Northwest and translating in-house sales initiatives into quantifiable results in this region.
• Attending sales conferences, launch meetings, regional trade shows, and occasionally the Winter Institute and Children’s Institute.
• Engaging in regular sales calls, territory sales analysis and report creation showing forecasts and updates
• Managing a territory co-op budget
• Helping to plan and execute author events/tours while evaluating the success of in-store events.


• Minimum three years of prior publishing sales experience required; retail Bookstore and/or Museum experience a plus.
• Results-oriented and self- motivated, the ability to work independently with strong organizational skills along with the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Edelweiss as well as Salesforce.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation in order to maintain an expected level of coverage.
• An orientation towards client relationships, account management, and collaborative work.
