HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a National Account Representative to sell Children’s and YA trade books to the warehouse clubs and to the wholesalers supplying them. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Sales and is based in New York City. This position works closely with editorial, marketing, inventory and production, to position our titles and lists for maximum exposure, sales and growth.

•Sell our children’s and YA print books -- including regular sales calls, quarterly business reviews, management of a cooperative advertising pool.
•Establish strong relationships with key personnel at clubs and their supporting wholesalers.
•Set yearly business goals for the accounts and update business reviews quarterly, with ability to discuss opportunities and challenges with the account and in order to create accurate sales forecasts.
•Communicate internally to publishing and finance regarding major account activity such as significant orders, account strategy, opportunities and risks.
•Project initial buys and on-going reorder and inventory needs by using in-house projection tools and systems.
•Participate in in-house meetings (i.e. Launch, Planning, Presales, Sales Conference, weekly Marketing, Children’s Sales Staff).
•Provide regular business and title feedback to Publishing and Sales Management via written reports, new title Call Reports, and in-person discussions.
•Participate in title planning and provide feedback and information flow to Editorial, Marketing, Special Markets, Production and Inventory departments.
•Work closely with inventory management to secure appropriate stock for this channel.
•Responsible for critical sales analysis of POS in order to maximize supply chain efficiencies, and to work with the retailers and wholesalers on key opportunities.
•Be fully conversant with marketplace trends and identify new business opportunities, including the creation and implementation of special promotions.
•Work closely with each account to determine their needs.
•Prepare sales call materials, including PowerPoints and excel grids.

•4-year college degree
•At least 4 years’ work experience in book publishing
•Relevant experience in sales with National Accounts
•Relevant experience in sales with Warehouse Clubs a plus
•Keen knowledge of children’s books and the competitive marketplace
•Excellent sales analysis skills, including knowledge of building a business plan
•Ability to manage time effectively and track multiple projects and priorities
•Must be a self-starter and self-motivated
•Excellent communication and organizational skills, strong attention to detail and impeccable follow-up with the account
•Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
