Two Lines Press, the publishing program the Center for the Art of Translation, is seeking a Sales and Marketing Manager to boost field, academic, library, and special sales. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned publishing professional eager to amplify the work of a daring small press.

The Sales and Marketing Manager, a new position for the press, is a creative and strategic thinker with a gift for nurturing existing relationships while cultivating new audiences for our work. We are passionate about our books: we are seeking someone for whom the merits of authors such as Wolfgang Hilbig, Elvira Navarro, Marie NDiaye, and Masatsugu Ono, among others—along with their respective translators, Isabel Fargo Cole, Christina MacSweeney, Jordan Stump, and Angus Turvill—are self-evident. A successful applicant will be an incisive reader with a keen imagination. The animating question behind this role is, “How can more readers discover these singular writers?”

Although foreign language proficiency is not a requisite skill nor a duty of this position, engagement with contemporary literature in translation and/or a second language would be beneficial. This is a noteworthy opportunity to join a gregarious staff that genuinely treasures the work they publish.

—Develop and implement comprehensive sales and marketing plans for all Two Lines Press books, including backlist titles

—Research and propose innovative sales platforms, programs, and projects

—Contribute to special projects that cultivate the literary translation community

—Make note that travel is a requirement of this position
