Requirements:
The Publishing Assistant will play a supporting role in the strategic positioning and packaging (SPP) and acquisitions departments. Responsibilities will include:

• Helping to manage incoming pitches and proposals from authors
• Pulling book sales data from NPD DecisionKey (formerly Bookscan)
• Assisting with various mailings and outreach initiatives for literary agents
• Assisting with the creation of endorsements outreach materials
• Preparing formatted PDF files for vendor circulation
• Researching book titles
• Scheduling and preparing agendas for author and team calls and meetings
• Drafting presentations and helping prepare for seasonal sales meetings
• Data entry and book metadata updates
• Uploading and maintaining updated versions of manuscripts for various vendors and contacts
• Creating and editing reports, such as for book sales and projection reports
• Assisting in various other special projects not covered by any one department

Candidates will be given a proofreading test to assess attention to detail and overall grasp of grammar and language rules.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

• 1–3 years relevant work experience (although highly qualified recent college graduates will be considered)
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent grammar and proofing skills
• An eye for details, especially in text
• Superior interpersonal communication skills
• The ability to take on, and keep organized, a wide variety of simultaneous assignments
• The ability to learn new tasks and systems quickly
• Proactive, self-motivated, and consistently reliable

No specific experience is necessary. Rather, we are looking for the right mix of skills and personal qualities.

BenBella is a virtual company, so the successful candidate will work from home and will have some degree of flexibility in their schedule; however, the candidate will have to be based out of Dallas, TX for the first one to two years. After this initial time period, high-performing candidates may have the opportunity to relocate with the United States.
