We are seeking a Publicity Manager to join our Special Interest department. In this role you will be responsible for the execution of major publicity campaigns for books published by Bloomsbury and related imprints including Osprey Publishing, Bloomsbury Continuum, Sigma, Green Tree, and Adlard Coles.

Directs publicity campaigns for all Bloomsbury Special Interest titles, including writing press materials, pitching local and national media, and coordinating author appearances. Creates and executes publicity campaigns. Presents in company meetings, including sales conference.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Develop and execute campaigns for approximately 50 titles per year, creating press materials, and managing media outreach.

-Attend weekly proposal and cover review meetings providing key input for titles from acquisition through on-sale.

-Supervise one publicity team member and advise on their campaign strategies.

-Cultivate and maintain relationships with online influencers, including book bloggers and bookstagrammers.

-Present at company meetings including sales conference.

-Coordinate plans with the UK team including marketing, publicity, design and editorial, offices.

-Communicate campaign status and results in-house and to the sales team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

-This position has one direct report: Associate Publicist

Qualifications/Skills Required:

-Significant prior work experience in publicity, with an emphasis placed on niche publishing (preferably military history, popular science, sports & fitness, religion, business, nautical or gift books)

-At least five years of experience in the publishing industry.

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

-Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

-Good diplomacy skills, and a strong sense of initiative and high level of professionalism.

-Ability to work on deadline, have keen attention to detail, and demonstrate follow through.

-Excellent relationships with media.

-Ability to think strategically and adapt to changing circumstances in a highly collaborative environment.

-Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Publicity Assistant, Cision, and social media.
