The Associate Editor will support publishing programs of Hachette Book Group’s Faithwords imprint which focuses on religious books of all denominations of Christianity. Working with the Publisher of Hachette Nashville, the Associate Editor will oversee projects through the entire publishing process, will serve as a key contact for franchise authors, including Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen and TD Jakes and will help to build upon the success of current authors and titles.


Manage acquired books through the contracts, editorial, managing editorial and production processes, and in doing so, collaborate with authors on changes in style, content and format of books, and with illustrators, on design of books.
Work with internal departments including publicity, art, sales and marketing to help create a cohesive publishing effort for each title.
Create original and compelling cover copy and fact sheets for titles and ensure metadata and keywords are accurate and current to ensure customer discoverability.
Establish and coordinate editorial/production schedules to ensure all projects are met in a timely manner.
Read manuscripts submitted to the Publisher and write reader’s reports; prepare materials for acquisitions meetings.
Handle Spanish conversions and coordinate with translator for Spanish cover copy and interiors.
Complete and track payment requests
Run reports on sales and other reports as needed and prepare materials and presentations for Sales Conference, Focus Meetings, author meetings, etc.
Research and provide information and strategic recommendations to senior leadership team, with the goal of broadening the reach of the imprint; brainstorm gift titles.
Liase with Legal and Contracts department to draft contracts with authors and agents, in collaboration with the Publisher.


Bachelor’s or related degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in faith/inspirational publishing and demonstrated interest in this genre.
A thorough understanding of the overall publishing process and an ability to traffic manuscripts through each phase of the publishing process, ensuring accuracy and attentiveness to deadlines.
Self-motivated with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Attentive to details in a deadline-driven environment with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Experiences with database systems, as well as Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
Strong initiative and judgment. Results-oriented and ability to work well independently an collaborate in team environments.
