Requirements:
Berghahn Books seeks a Marketing Assistant for its DUMBO-based marketing department.

Responsibilities span digital and traditional marketing activities that include:
• Maintaining Berghahn social media accounts;
• Executing email marketing campaigns;
• Providing support for online promotions in relation to press releases, reviews, attendance of conferences, and to ensure integration of online promotions with print promotions;
• Assisting in online strategies to generate website traffic and sales;
• Organizing marketing results data and usage statistics for analysis;
• Researching conferences and other marketing opportunities as needed;
• Updating marketing materials, such as postcards, flyers, and catalogs when necessary;
• Providing assistance in any other aspects of marketing as needed.

Requirements:
The position requires a responsible and detail-oriented person who can handle multiple tasks in a small-firm environment with minimal supervision. As an independent press, this position will offer a great opportunity to learn many facets of the publishing process.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
• A background in marketing or book/journal publishing is ideal;
• Knowledge of Constant Contact and Social Media interfaces as well as basic desktop publishing skills, such as familiarity with InDesign, are also important for the job.
• Excellent communication skills and a good command of English grammar and spelling as well as proficiency in Word processing applications and Excel are vital.
• An interest in scholarly publishing is valuable and a background in social sciences or the humanities a plus.
• Self-reliance with a high degree of organization and the ability to work in a small-firm environment is essential.
