Requirements:
Writers House is seeking an agent’s assistant. The ideal candidate has at least one year of experience in the book publishing industry, a voracious appetite for reading, a keen editorial eye, and excellent organizational skills.

Duties and responsibilities include:
• Reading query and client manuscripts and delivering editorial reports, often on tight deadlines
• Reviewing and replying to manuscript queries
• Processing new client paperwork
• Managing phone lines and taking detailed messages
• Entering all new deals, amendments, and renewals in accounting database
• Tracking all payments due, contract negotiations and execution, and client publication dates
• Liaise between the agent’s desk and the accounting, contracts, and digital departments as needed
• Maintaining office filing, including shelving agency copies of client books (must be able to lift and carry 20 lb. boxes)
• Managing all incoming and outgoing mail and messenger deliveries (with assistance from mail room and front desk)
• Any additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned

• Experience with Literary Expert software a plus
