Hachette Book Group seeks to fill the position of Associate Director, Advertising & Promotions to oversee advertising strategy and implementation across all divisions and collaborate on a wide range of marketing initiatives.


Develop and implement advertising strategies and campaigns for titles across the Grand Central Publishing division, including management of advertising planning, buying, and creative development across all imprints, as well as tracking the success of campaigns across digital, print, broadcast and out-of-home platforms.
Oversee GCP's working relationship with external ad agency.
Present advertising campaigns to top-tier authors and agents as part of launch planning in the lead up to publication.
Manage the annual advertising budget in conjunction with the divisional marketing director.
Provide publishers and marketing directors with insight on latest developments in the advertising space and establish advertising best practices based on careful examination of campaign performance across divisions.
Monitor social media and trade advertising across divisions to track efficacy and ensure cost savings.
Utilize campaign tracking reports to provide data-driven feedback into title-specific marketing plans in seasonal planning meetings.
Strategize brand author development in collaboration with the Director of Marketing Strategy, publishers and divisional marketing directors.


A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in an advertising or publishing environment.
Expertise across the entire spectrum of advertising venues with particular emphasis on broadcast production.
Knowledge of and interest in innovation and development in the advertising world.
A strong understanding of advertising and marketing analytics and the proven ability to analyze data to set benchmarks and ROI expectations for specific outlets using platforms such as Google Analytics and DoubleClick.
Proven ability to manage multi-million dollar budgets effectively, accurately, and with greatest ROI.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audience.
Must be results driven, and take appropriate steps to achieve goals while taking ownership of situations as needed.
Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.
Drives change and innovation by improving work product or process, and challenges established norms where appropriate.
Proven ability to build supportive and constructive relationships within and outside of the organization; takes the lead in inspiring others to work together for mutual benefit.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work through attention to detail
