Executive Publicist, ARTBOOK | D.A.P.

The Executive Publicist works with the ARTBOOK | D.A.P. staff and liaises with the communications departments of client distribution imprints, including major museums, galleries, and international arts publishers. This is a high-visibility position at the intersection of the publishing and art worlds.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and develop strong, creative, long-term relationships with the most influential figures in print, web, broadcast and social media for art, photography, architecture, design, fashion, and illustrated book coverage;

• Develop and execute publicity campaigns for lead titles, securing well-timed print, web, broadcast, and social media coverage through feature stories, image slideshows, artist interviews, profiles, book reviews, and gift and "best-of" round-ups;

• Liaise with and collaboratively support the press outreach of D.A.P.'s client publishers including major museums, galleries, international publishers, and small presses with attention to various institutional requirements;

• Contract and manage freelance publicists for selected titles;

• Maintain and develop V.I.P. and invitation lists and publicize book signings, artist's events, panel discussions press preview, art fair events, book fair parties, and annual conference tie-in events;

• Supervise one direct report and manage freelancers and well-developed, vibrant press internship program in maintaining database logs of media lists, press activity, and review coverage; mailing review copies; and managing reproduction images;


• Extensive media contacts with strong relationships in the arts and visual culture, with a documented track record of major media placements;

• Knowledge of and passion for contemporary art, architecture, design, and photography ;

• Engaging interpersonal style and ability to communicate comfortably with both media and art world figures;

• Superior organization, follow-through and multi-tasking talent evidenced by experience successfully managing multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously;

• Technical mastery of efficient Excel, web, social media, database, and email skills;
