Penguin Random House is looking for a Financial Analyst to join the Penguin Young Readers group. This position will report to the Business Manager and will work closely with the rest of the finance team in managing the Penguin Young Readers business.

Primary responsibilities:
* Track and analyze daily sales and returns and reconcile variances to budget
* Prepare various sales reports during month-end for all Penguin Young Readers imprints as well as analyze and interpret monthly sales data
* Prepare and update monthly sales analysis for new titles along with variance commentary
* Compile rolling 3 month sales outlook by title versus budget
* Report and analyze divisional operating expenses
* Work closely with all department heads to prepare detailed operating expense budgets
* Point person for Concur / T&E questions and coding of invoices and expenses
* Assist the business manager with preparing monthly marketing reports and analyses
* Provide general ad hoc data and reporting upon request

Requirements:
* Minimum of 3 - 5 years relevant work experience (book publishing/media a plus)
* Proficiency with Excel (vlookups and PowerPivot)
* Experience with SAP and Business Objects preferred
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Exceptional organization skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
* Superb attention to detail
* Demonstrate ability to acquire and apply knowledge rapidly
