Position Description:

• Flatiron Books is looking for a Publicity Manager level candidate to join our publicity department. This person will report to the Executive Director of Publicity and will work with a highly focused team on diverse projects that include fiction, non-fiction, lifestyles titles, cookbooks, and young adult titles. The person who fills this position will work frequently, but not exclusively, with the non-fiction titles we publish.

Major Responsibilities:

• Planning and executing multi-city book tours and author appearances, including coordinating book signings, arranging travel and creating comprehensive tour schedules
• Pitching and securing top national and local media, including print, radio, television, and online outlets
• Writing press materials, including compelling press releases and creative pitch letters
• Working closely with publicity team as well as authors, publishers, editors, sales and marketing teams

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be detailed-oriented, well-organized and able to manage multiple priorities
• Strong relationships with media contacts and creative approach to pitching

Experience Needed:

• At least five years book publicity experience required
• Experience in both fiction and non-fiction preferred
