Requirements:
The Hachette Book Group is seeking a Senior Managing Editor for its flagship Grand Central Publishing division. Grand Central publishes more than 300 titles a year across a wide variety of genres including fiction, nonfiction, romance, lifestyle, mystery/thrillers, and pop culture titles under the Grand Central, Life & Style, Forever, Forever Yours, Goop Press, and Twelve imprints. This position reports to the VP, Executive Managing Editor.

Responsibilities:
-Work in close partnership with the Grand Central publisher and the editorial and art teams on seasonal lists to ensure timely delivery of manuscripts, copy, and sales materials
-Collaborate with the editorial, art, and production departments to schedule and monitor titles through the entire production process
-Develop or refine procedures to improve existing workflows and ensure that interdepartmental best practices and standards are in maintained
-Lead production and other status meetings and participate in various interdepartmental meetings
-Maintain title data and communicate changes companywide
-Manage a team of 7 production editors at all levels of experience
-Managing a few special book projects (bought bounds, third-party packagers) per season, as necessary

Requirements:
-5+ years managing editorial experience, preferably in a trade house
-Solid knowledge of the entire trade publishing process for fiction, narrative nonfiction, and various illustrated genres
-Proven communication and interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and an ability to work collegially with a variety of stakeholders and with appropriate assertiveness to ensure deadlines are met
-Demonstrated team leadership and mentorship skills
-Solid organizational skills, with an aptitude for process development and innovation
-Strong computer/MS Word and Excel skills and knowledge of electronic copyediting and coding
-Solid copyediting and proofreading skills
-Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style (16th and 17th eds.)
