The Social Media Editor will be responsible for programming and growing Literary Hub and its verticals’ social channels, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The applicant should be a highly motivated, creative individual with at least one year experience running a publication or organization’s social feed. Community participation is integral to this position’s success. The right person will represent our site and our content in a positive, engaged, authentic way with a distinct voice and personality.

The person in this position is responsible for:

-Audience growth and engagement
-Platform-specific content generation and management
-Planning, goal setting, and overall strategy
-Development of brand awareness and online reputation
-SEO (search engine optimization) and generation of inbound traffic

Duties include:

Draft and publish relevant, original social posts based on Literary Hub’s editorial content
-Design, create and manage social campaigns
-Leverage third party tools such as Social Flow, Quicksprout, Tweetdeck or others to manage content
-Implement a content editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific, timely campaigns
-Develop and expand community and outreach for our content
-Stay up to date on evolving social and digital marketing best practices
-Help develop a visual identity for our social media channels, including branding, typography, mood, and look and feel
-Measure, analyze, and regularly compile reports for management on key performance indicators such as: Audience Growth, Audience Profile, Audience Engagement by platform and content type, Content Reach, and Positive/Negative Feedback
-Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising social media, content marketing, SEO and social advertising campaigns in an effort to maximize results
-Become an advocate for the site in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate


-Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.) and how each platform should be used
-Experience sourcing and managing content, including creative commons images
-Excellent writing and proofreading skills
-Extensive knowledge of books, writers and the literary world
-Maintains a working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research and Google Analytics
-Possesses functional knowledge and/or personal experience with WordPress.
-Experience with image and video editing software such as Photoshop, and creating formats such as GIFs and designing social images with text
