SUMMARY:
Basic Books is seeking a highly-motivated Marketing Assistant to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have a strong interest in promoting nonfiction titles, excellent written and verbal communication skills, an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, and a strong focus on details and deadlines. This entry level position will assist with all aspects of Basic Books Marketing from planning to implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare and track materials for all major meetings with the Hachette sales team as well as the catalog
• Create focus and sales conference presentations through PowerPoint
• Coordinate and prepare materials for weekly marketing meeting
• Update social media accounts daily
• Coordinate GoodReads giveaways
• Update Basic Website
• Monitor e-retailer account sites to ensure book and author data are up
• Maintain NetGalley
• Admin duties include: code invoices and maintain budget grid, coordinate mailings, schedule meetings, create and distribute weekly reports

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Minimum of 1 year of publishing experience preferred (internships ok) or other relevant work experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong interest in the marketing and sales side of book publishing
• Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills
• Familiarity with Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel required, basic HTML and/or website design and Photoshop/InDesign an enormous plus
• Familiarity with social media platforms a plus
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
• Rigorous attention to detail
