We are looking for an energetic, seasoned, hard-working YA fantasy editor to join the Bloomsbury Children’s editorial team. The Senior Editor/Brand Manager will edit and oversee Bloomsbury’s lead YA fantasy franchises. This position requires complete focus on one author and includes editing, brainstorming, and communication with the author and agent, as well as being the key point person for all facets of the author’s publishing programs and liaising with multiple global departments within the company. The position is also responsible for developing strategy and growth plans for the brands, acquiring new books from the author, developing spin-off books and exclusive editions using author-generated or other content, and seeing them through the production process from start to finish. This position reports to Bloomsbury Children’s US Publisher.

• Develop and implement the overall publication strategy for 2-3 major YA fantasy series (all written by the same author) and grow the brand by acquiring new books and series from the author.
• Responsible for managing the backlist, as well as developing new front list projects beyond what the author generates (exclusive editions, spin-off books, books featuring related content, creating/extending into new formats, etc.).
• Edit, line edit, write copy (tip sheet, flaps, catalog, etc.), and collaborate with the author on all elements of the book, including facilitating approvals for materials and assets.
• Liaise with the agent as necessary on deal negotiation, approvals, schedules, and other details relating to the books and programs.
• Liaise with and act as the point person for these projects between marketing & publicity, managing ad, production, and the art department.
• Liaise with and act as the point person for these projects between our global offices.
• Responsible for managing title P&Ls.


Minimum 10-15 year’s experience in children’s book publishing with specific emphasis on YA fantasy and superior editing, communication skills, and attention to detail and schedules. Extensive knowledge of book publishing processes and functions (editorial, managing editorial, production, design, copyediting, marketing, sales) and excellent intra- and inter-departmental communication and collaboration skills necessary. Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, and results driven, with the ability to problem solve and take appropriate steps to achieve goals. This hands-on person must have both the macro vision for the overall brand, as well as a micro focus for implementation from book to book. Candidates should also have experience managing high-profile authors and/or programs. Four-year college degree required.
