Radish Fiction, a serialized reading platform for smartphones, is hiring a Romance Editor to develop original serialized content for mobile readers. You must be passionate about creating engaging stories, discovering new talent, brainstorming content strategy, mentoring and empowering creators, and iterating based on product performance and user data. This is a full time contract position with potential for full time employment offer.

Who You Are
We are looking for a creative editor and storyteller to join Radish’s content development team to work with our wide community of writers to discover, nurture, and publish our next mobile hit. You are an experienced publishing professional with a strong eye for recognizing authors and content creators with the talent to deliver top notch storytelling for an innovative smartphone serialized reading publisher. You have a strong network of established and budding agents, publishers and/or authors, and are hip to the world of publishing. You want to work closely with top romance authors to develop original serialized content while thinking critically about product metrics and performance. You will be responsible for discovering and acquiring these exceptional authors in Romance, managing author relationships, and collaborating with marketing, publicity, production, and author relations’ teams to deliver exceptional stories to our voracious readers and provide our world-class authors with guidance and support as they build their careers.

You should understand the unique characteristics of serialized content and how to differentiate it in the entertainment reading space. You are someone who thinks more like an entertainment studio producer rather than a literary editor in a publishing house. You follow the latest media trends in the world of TV, movies, and games. You have a great knowledge of the romance genre and trends in the current marketplace. You are eager to learn about your product and audience. Your decisions are driven by creative intuition, knowledge of your team’s ability, user research, business goals, and market strategy. You thrive in a fast-paced agile environment that seeks out immediate impact. Above all, you’re passionate about storytelling in a new digital age and leading the creative process. This is a multi-faceted job in a start-up environment that requires flexibility, agility, and a deep love of reading and readers.

Finding and cultivating romance authors both new and seasoned with strong commercial potential.
Working closely with authors to produce original serialized content optimized for the Radish platform. This includes partnering with writers to develop new series from pitch through pilot, and through production of multiple seasons.
Seeking out, responding to, and iterating based on qualitative and quantitative feedback throughout the development and production process.
Managing additional frontlist and backlist titles from top authors, advising authors on the best publishing strategy for these titles on Radish.
Partnering cross-functionally on story launches, press, marketing, data analysis, and general programming needs.
Monitoring and analyzing trend and sales data.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with literary agents, publishers and authors.
Finding creative ways to expand uses and opportunities for Radish.

What we are looking for:
Passion for and great knowledge of the romance genre.
3+ years working in literary publishing, TV networking programming, or game development. Combination of these experiences are a plus.
3+ years managing creative writers and storytellers.
Experience in the development of IP projects a plus.
Demonstrated knowledge of the story development process from concept through production.
Strong existing relationships with romance writers, agents, and editors.
Proven track records of helping develop successful romance titles.
