Requirements:
Reporting to the Publisher, the Managing Editor will be responsible for overseeing and working with authors and staff editors on the development of book manuscripts ranging from middle-grade fiction, to literary and commercial fiction, and non-fiction titles. The Managing Editor must be highly-driven, comfortable working in a small but quickly growing office, and have an impeccable eye for detail.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the publishing schedule for 20-24 books per year
• Supervise and support staff editors and acquiring editors
• Maintain awareness of competing titles, genres, and industry trends
• Create and maintain relationships between authors, literary agents, and other key industry contacts
• Oversee backlist planning and publishing
• Consult/ collaborate with marketing, production, and sales on target goals and budgets
• Work collaboratively and diplomatically across departments
• Occasionally represent Amberjack Publishing at trade shows and other industry events and conferences

Qualifications:
• Familiarity across all genres, extensive experience in middle-grade and/or non-fiction
• Experience managing authors, lists, and a team of editors
• Working knowledge of sales, marketing, and production processes
• Experience working in trade publishing
• Fluency in The Chicago Manual of Style
• Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and eBook conversion a plus
