THE OPPORTUNITY

Liaise with book packagers in regards to specs, schedules, and all other production needs Oversees on-time creation of solicitation materials for sales. Conduct status meetings and all other meetings as necessary, ensuring timely agenda distribution, attendee participation, and follow up.Report to the Senior Managing Director and provide support as needed. Opportunity for a skilled self-starter to take the next step in their career and manage the production of Trade and Club non-licensed fiction Scholastic Readers, Club paperback originals series, Scholastic en Espanol, club novelty titles and ebooks. This position manages the production of the above titles reviewing specs in all stages, production checking and routing all stages of mechanicals and proofs (both traditional and electronic) to ensure all text and design corrections have been incorporated correctly.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities:

Maintain all production schedules, ensuring that the target dates are accurate and communicating deadlines to the Senior Production Director, Design, Editorial, and manufacturing departments.

Copyedit and proofread materials (short jobs) in-house

Work closely with creative, editorial and manufacturing on all aspects of production

Coordinate the various electronic databases and servers locations that house our reprint, barcode, and electronic copyediting information; manage all necessary IT maintenance.

Oversee the freelance copyediting staff (both inhouse and out of house) by hiring, training, supervising their schedules, priorities and quality of work.

Checks and routes materials in all stages of production
Update and maintain the production status agenda for all titles managed, reviewing weekly to make sure all info is entered clearly and correctly, troubleshooting any issues with entry or coding

HOW YOU CAN FIT

•Superior copyediting and proofreading skills and meticulous attention to details is required.
•Excellent knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
•Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style.
•Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and juggling multiple projects.
•Excellent computer skills, especially adept at Track Changes and electronics copyediting.
•Highly motivated, focused and energetic individual is needed.
•1-2 years experience in production coordination
