Offered by:
Taylor & Francis
Duration:
Full Time
Location:
New York, NY
Requirements:
We are looking for an outstanding and self-motivated Senior Editor in Communication to join the Routledge Humanities Books team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team and commissioning new projects aimed at the academic, professional, and student market. The primary responsibility of the role is to manage and grow a book publishing programme in Communication.

This is a mixed list, with a significant textbook component: a result of acquisition and organic revision cycles. Key areas include strategic communication, communication and well-being/positive communication, global communication practice, and rhetoric. Excellent strategic, verbal and written communication skills will be required to represent the company professionally to authors and other external contacts, and in line with company strategy, building on contacts to maximise both print and digital sales.

The Senior Editor will be responsible for driving the future growth of their list through commissioning and managing a team of editors and editorial assistants in the US. Strategic planning and analysis of trends in the discipline and market will be essential to ensure the successful development of the list. The role will involve building strong working relationships externally with authors, series editors, societies and others working in the field; and internally with colleagues in the Editorial team, and other departments, including Marketing, Sales and Production.

Reporting to the Senior Publisher in the UK, the job will involve conference attendance and visiting world-wide.

The ideal candidate will have extensive commissioning experience and understanding of the academic environment. They will be looking for a way to broaden and develop their management skills from the base of a large and successful books list.
