Radish Fiction, a serialized reading platform for smartphones, is hiring a head of content development to help develop and maintain the vision for Radish serials. You must be passionate about creating engaging stories and worlds, discovering new talent, brainstorming content strategy, mentoring and empowering creators, and iterating based on product performance and user data.

Who You Are
You understand unique characteristics of serialized content and how to differentiate them in the entertainment reading space. You have strong insights around story and hold writers to a high bar. You inspire new talent to create amazing stories for women in their teens, twenties and thirties, while thinking critically about product metrics and performance. You are someone who thinks more like an entertainment studio executive rather than a literary editor in a publishing house. You follow the latest media trends in the world of TV, movies, and games. You have a great knowledge of genre fiction space. You are eager to learn about your product and audience. Your decisions are driven by creative intuition, knowledge of your team’s ability, user research, business goals, and market strategy. You thrive in a face-paced agile environment that seeks out immediate impact. Above all, you’re passionate about storytelling in a new digital age and leading the creative process.

Help design and maintain the vision for the Radish content development team, putting us on the path to create unique serial content that stands out in the mobile reading space and create hits for our current audience, while also thinking about how to expand it over time.
- Define what successful mobile serial fiction will look like.
- Identify and discover great writers who are fit for writing serials.
- Create an organizational culture and processes that will produce hits.
Provide critical and creative feedback on the stories being managed, edited, and curated to ensure they meet the Radish quality bar and incorporate quantitative learnings and best practices.
Strengthen the structure, characters, pacing, and goals of stories in development based on
qualitative and quantitative feedback.
Seek out, respond to, and iterate based on qualitative and quantitative feedback throughout the development and production process
Drive scaling and hiring for our team of curators to achieve company goals.
Manage and mentor team members on serial fiction development, editing, strategy, and process.
Organize and track the projects for the team of curators.
- Set milestones and deadlines with the team.
- Set quantitative and qualitative goals for each story, adjusting on performance data and market response.
Partner cross-functionally on episode launches, press, marketing, data analysis, and general programming needs

What we are looking for:
7+ years working in literary publishing, tv networking programming, or game development. Combination of these experiences are a plus..
7+ years managing creative writers and storytellers.
Experience in the development of IP projects at a book packager or publishing house. Particularly Young Adult IP titles.
Experience in managing, scaling, and growing creative teams.
Experience in motivating and driving a team toward shared creative vision.
Proven track records of helping develop hit IPs.

Launched in February 2015, Radish is Netflix for serials where readers can enjoy premium serialiazed stories based on bite-sized episodes suitable for 10 minutes on a smartphone. It is a digital update of the Victorian idea of the serialised novel. After 3 free chapters, mobile micropayments provide access to ensuing episodes so that audiences may secure instant gratification after a cliffhanger ending. Its top author is earning more than $21,000 a month. Radish has been covered in leading publications such as New York Times, Publishers Weekly, Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Techcrunch, Fast Company, and Forbes.

With support from Silicon Valley, Hollywood and the publishing industry, Radish has raised $3.65 million in seed financing. The backers include Greylock, Lowercase Partners, Softbank Next Media Innovation Fund, UTA, Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments (BDMI) and Sherpa Capital. Individual investors include bestselling author Amy Tan, Sir Peter Bazalgette, Charlie Songhurst, Nicolas Berggruen, Matt Humphrey, Duncan Clark, and Jeremy Yap among others.
