Requirements:
As Copy Editor, the candidate will work on copy in a variety of fiction and nonfiction subjects.

Responsibilities may include:
• Review catalog and cover copy text in Microsoft Word for several imprints and copyedit for adherence to house style, consistency, content, fact-checking, and formatting
• Review backlist text for all imprints in Microsoft Word and copyedit for adherence to house style, consistency, content, fact-checking, and formatting
• Proofread typeset catalogs as PDFs and mark changes electronically
• Communicate all queries to supervising editor in a timely and clear manner
• Keep track of assignments' status in a spreadsheet and keep supervisor apprised of any issues

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field
• at least 3 years of experience proofreading and copyediting
• Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style, 16th Edition
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word track changes, Adobe Acrobat, and Excel
• Detail-oriented and thorough about following templates and styles
• Curious; able to check names, places, and facts online and eager to check punctuation, grammar, formatting, and spelling against Merriam-Webster online and house style
• Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and well-organized
• Positive attitude/team player
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
• Passion for books and book publishing
• Immediate availability preferred
