 Requirements: 
Workman Publishing seeks a Publicist/Senior Publicist for its dynamic team to handle a range of publicity campaigns for a diverse list of titles, both new and backlist. Workman, one of the largest independently owned book publishers, is known for its roster of children’s and adult brands that include Brain Quest, Indestructibles, Paint By Sticker, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, 1,000…Before You Die, and Atlas Obscura, as well as a list of acclaimed, bestselling authors including Sandra Boynton, Brooke Gladstone, Austin Kleon, and Steven Raichlen, among many others. Candidates must have experience executing campaigns for lead titles on children’s and/or adult lists. A strong knowledge of the media, booksellers and event venues, excellent organizational skills, creative thinking abilities, and a proven track record of both internal and external communication is also required.

The Publicist/Senior Publicist will be responsible for crafting comprehensive publicity campaigns; executing multi-city author tours; proactively creating pitch topics; seeking new media contacts; securing major media for books, brands and authors; writing innovative press releases and pitch letters; and building strong relationships with authors. The role will report to the Director of Publicity.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree; minimum 5 years experience in book publishing publicity; excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong media contacts; and the ability to juggle multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
