Reporting to the SVP, General Manager of Klutz, this position is directly responsible for growing Klutz’ business in all classes of U.S. trade retail.
This individual will lead a core team of 5 individuals across sales functions, as well as 6 specialty rep groups, and be point for the Trade book field sales team. Additionally this person will lead our brand and retail marketing, publicity, digital initiatives, creative services, and marketing operations and will have wide-ranging experience in strategic planning, integrated marketing, social media, and retail marketing.
Responsible for the continuous building of the Klutz brand in order to enhance our presence in our key markets including book, toy, gift, mass merchant and school market. Manage the development and production of a wide-variety of marketing and sales communications materials including catalogs, in-store merchandising and signage, advertising and promotional pieces.
This person will lead Klutz’ sales and marketing initiatives by outlining objectives and strategies to achieve stated goals to drive sales through specialty retailers, traditional, online, and gift market.

Forecast accurate Monthly/Quarterly/YTD gross and net sales revenue
Develop results-focused annual business plans for each of the channels of distribution, including key accounts and specialty, including commission rep groups
Lead internal sales team (Key Account Manager, Specialty Sales Manager, and Sales Coordinator) as well as external rep groups, and directly manage key accounts
Lead marketing manager and coordinator
Maintain a solid understanding of our financial objectives, market trends and industry competition in order to help drive decision-making to create sustained revenue growth and brand strength
Identify new opportunities and develop results-focused plans to aggressively pursue these new opportunities
Proactively find ways to increase incremental revenue within existing accounts, and look to grow new accounts by developing and implementing sales promotions, POG strategy, off shelf placements, and seasonal opportunities
Utilize the sales trends and applicable POS reporting for analysis and strategic planning
Work with product development teams to help define product opportunities and refine final product and packaging designs
Develop and implement marketing strategies to build brand awareness and drive sales
Drive tailored and focused promotions by channel and account
Create impactful marketing communication material to support the Sales team
Develop partnerships with companies, organizations, and influential individuals to help build brand awareness and introduce new audiences to the Klutz brand
Manage all social media platforms to ensure content drives engagement, a positive experience, and encourages the Klutz community to share their love of the brand with others
Develop influencer network strategies across social media to maximize ROI
Developed custom displays and in-store merchandising solutions tailored to channel or account base
Work closely with Klutz’s Creative Director to ensure brand consistency, including design and voice
Analyze and report on the results of marketing initiatives and their impact on sales through relevant analytics and optimize accordingly
Manage budgets, schedules, and priorities in support of these initiatives, taking into account the appropriate level of resources, target audience, type of media, materials, and associated event

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
15+ years experience in successfully managing sales of consumer products, especially in the Arts & Crafts category, books, toys, games, activity kits or similar products for kids
B.A. or B.S. degree
Excellent working knowledge of and relationships with rep groups and accounts
Superior written and verbal communication skills; superior presentation skills
Strong collaborative skills
Outstanding ability to inspire and manage staff and rep groups
Effective creative problem solving and decision-making skills
Optimally, would have experience in both start-up and establish companies
Basic HTML, Excel and Photoshop skills beneficial
