Senior Publicist/Publicist
  posted: Aug. 3, 2017
 Offered by:
Verso Books
 Salary:
competitive
 Benefits:
Health, Dental, 401K
 Duration:
Full Time
 Location:
Brooklyn, NY
 Requirements:
Verso Books—the world’s largest independent, radical publishing house—is looking for a Senior Publicist or Publicist to join the team in Verso’s Brooklyn office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for securing events, interviews, reviews, features, op eds, and online coverage for up to thirty new books a year, working across a wide range of subject areas. Building good relationships with major, national media—broadcast, print and online—will be central to the job, in addition to working closely with independent press and political organizations. Creative use of social media and direct marketing tools will also be crucial, including helping to commission or write contributions to Verso's blog.

A willingness to try new and innovative approaches to publicity and marketing will be strongly encouraged. You will also need to be able to tailor and present the salient aspects of each new title to literary editors, potential writers, and events coordinators, and to efficiently manage tours and publicity campaigns for a number of titles at any one time. At least two years of experience at some kind of media organization is preferred—not necessarily book publishing—as well as a demonstrable familiarity with our list and publishing history.

We are an equal opportunity employer and underrepresented populations are especially encouraged to apply. Verso is offering a competitive salary (subject to experience), and full benefits (health and dental insurance, HRA, 401k, and twenty days vacation plus federal holidays).
