Responsible for sales within the assigned sales territory and serves as primary customer contact for territory. Develops new and existing accounts and communicates the needs of customer base and market to the company. Implements strategy to meet customer and market requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The following statements describe the general nature of work being performed in this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management):
•Acts as primary sales contact for customers within territory, actively working with sales reps on the ground in territory.
•Develops and manages sales to trade bookshops, online booksellers, bookselling chains, university booksellers, and mass merchants.
•Identifies opportunities and develop territory sales through travel, attendance at book fairs, and regular customer contact. Prepares presentations and follow up notes from each trip.
•Coordinates with internal B&T teams (International Operations, Finance, Credit, Marketing, Customer Service, and IT) to meet customer requirements and build profitable sales.
•Achieves budgeted territory sales and margins.
•Present company programs, services, and products to customers and potential customers in the territory's retail market.
•Becomes a “systems expert” on Baker & Taylor’s systems and is able to troubleshoot and facilitate solving customers’ inquiries on the TS360 platform, order processing, EDI, and freight as needed by communicating with correct department owners.
•Documents customer interaction including emails, calls, and proposals in SalesForce.
•Bachelor’s degree required.
•3-5 years’ work experience on a sales team; publishing experience a plus.
•Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint skills
•Comfortable communicating with customers and at all levels of the B&T organization.
•Adept with large data sets in Excel.
•Curiosity and willingness to grow within the organization.
•Passion for always wanting to “make things right” with a customer; refuses to settle for the easy answer.
•Highly organized – a natural prioritizer and comfortable with juggling multiple projects for a diverse number of customers, operationally minded, attentive to details, and a strong team player.
International travel: 30%.
