Job Summary:

The Director will manage the Foreign Rights Department and oversee the publishing of Trident’s clients and books around the world.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manage foreign rights department
- Attend trips to Frankfurt and London for the book fairs
- Maintain working relationships and develop new links with foreign publishers
- Meet with foreign editors in-office and at book fairs
- Read and evaluate manuscripts
- Compose submission letters and submission lists
- Negotiate UK and translation rights sales for clients
- Liaise with clients, foreign publishers, editors and production teams via phone and email
- Track clients’ performance in foreign markets
- Run department meetings
- Set departmental targets and ensure these are met
- Undertake high-level negotiations regarding, for example, legal agreements and contracts

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of book publishing experience, preferably in subrights or foreign rights
- Outstanding managerial, communication and people skills
- Superior organizational skills and very detail-oriented
- Extremely professional and articulate
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Foreign language skills a PLUS
