We are looking for a particularly smart, responsible and organized associate editor to join our growing team—particularly someone with a connection to the restaurant community (chef, food writer, blogger, food critic, etc).
This person must be a strong and clear writer (a short writing test will be given). It is important candidates are savvy to current trends in cooking, house and home, crafts, other hobbies, health and/or parenting. Please provide evidence of active participation in one or more of these categories, like selling goods through an Etsy store, or organization membership or online community participation, for example. We are looking for enthusiasts who can find exceptional people doing the most interesting things in their fields. Please address these particular qualities in your cover letter. Bookstore experience should be noted and is seen as a big plus. Editors will lend a hand in all things editorial, including acquisitions, copywriting and more. The salary is $30,000 annually, with yearly reviews. Benefits include 80% of healthcare policy coverage, a healthy personal time off policy and work-from-home Wednesdays. This position requires candidates to work in our office full time, it is not a remote position.
Candidates with a number of years of direct, hands-on experience in publishing in one or more of these categories may apply for a position as editor but will only be considered if their cover letter includes a salary requirement.
