Chocolate and Champagne http://tinyurl.com/92auund was a play in New York, and I'd been planning it with Frank Capra Jr, to be shot at Screen Gems Studios in North Carolina where he was president, when Frank died.
He had brought in casting director Marvin Paige, who knew actresses of a certain age, but Marvin died recently in a car accident, http://tinyurl.com/pep78y4.
(Don't worry, you and I are going to live long and happily.)
Marvin in turn brought in financier Paula Lane https://pro-labs.imdb.com/name/nm0003755/ of All-American Films https://pro-labs.imdb.com/company/co0053155/ and it was Paula who informed me of Marvin's death.
I asked her if she were still interested in coming to the table on Chocolate and Champagne, and she said she is. In the past she had told me it would have to do with getting an attachment, which was Marvin's department. He didn't shop it to many people because I vetoed most of his suggestions. For example he wanted to go to his old friend Kim Novak, but as much as I love her I thought she might be a little TOO old for this.
I've allowed it to languish, and it was a surprise to learn about Marvin. This brings it to the forefront again, and so does Paula's interest. Her partner in All-American is Bill Shields http://hollywoodlemon.wordpress.com/about/ who used to chair the AFM. I think they're serious people.
The business plan is based on a two million dollar budget but that's not, as they say, in stone.
I have financial interest from Canada and from Florida, but we need something solid to get the others to put their money on the table.
