Benzo Land: Benzodiazepines and the Snuffing Out of Souls
July 18, 2014
Author:  Richard Crasta
Category:  Non-fiction: Memoir
Description:  Benzodiazpeine addiction or dependency affects possibly fifty to a hundred million people worldwide, and for its size, it is probably the least talked about or understood dependency--often, by the doctors who are doing the prescribing. Why? This remarkable and passionate memoir of doctor-induced Benzodiazepine addiction not only provides answers, but comes along with an astonishing personal story (he was married to a psychiatrist), and presents a public interest argument for drug companies and doctors to take responsibility for the dependency they have created and offer compensation and free detoxification treatment.

To explain the subtitle: The Snuffing Out of Souls, consider Othello's lines: "Put out the light, and then Put out the light." The light, in this case, is the light of hope, of humanity, of mental clarity. Read the e-book: it's ridiculously cheap for something so revelatory, personal, and unflinchingly honest.

Rights available:  All
Other information:  Part of the book is available as an e-book on many platforms with the title "Benzo Land: How Doctors and Drug Companies Enslave Us." Rights may be purchased for publication of something close to the existing manuscript, or the author may be requested to expand the book in cooperation with an editor. Very flexible at the moment, as the author needs the money to visit his son, from whom he was separated as a result of many years of misunderstanding and chicanery.
