A new work of commercial fiction
from French best-selling author Bruno Garel,
who is well known in France but has to date remained a
hidden gem for the rest of the world.
A different, French version of The Missing Eye sold 50,000
copies in France alone, and was optioned for film by the master
filmmaker Anthony Minghella before Minghella's untimely death in 2008.
Garel's novels always have a spiritual angle, and also
an element of psychological suspense.
I have helped the author develop this new English incarnation
of the book for the U.S. market, and we also have keen interest
"The Missing Eye" unravels mythological belief systems
and their impact on identity and love.
Its hero, Jess Bridge, a young, broke photojournalist based in
Manhattan, is sent on assignment to Egypt and finds himself thrust
into a web of murder, deceit and betrayal--linked to the ancient bust of Nefertiti
and it's legendary missing eye.
This is a Davinci Code-type story founded on real art history and the archetypal
mythology of ancient Egypt. These archetypes pervade Western psychology and culture,
and come to life powerfully in the contemporary story of The Missing Eye.
The 70,000 word manuscript, in English, is ready.
We anticipate a large, popular audience for the book, similar to the market for
Da Vinci code.
Garel has been somewhat of a hidden gem, preoccupied with his
professional life as a creative director and author in France, before being
noticed by this agency.
