Jiashu Xu, an Australian Chinese, is a photographer, translator and traveler. He is a member of Royal Photographic Society, the Australian Institute of Professional Photography, and China Photographers' Association.
He got Selected Goblet at 130th Annual International Photographic Exhibition. ( Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain) Silver Award at the South Australia Institution of Professional Photographers' Print. Award of Excellent of photography Annual (Communication Arts Magazine USA). One of his photos was the cover of The Economist in Jan 2003.
In 1980s, by coincidence he went to the Tibet and got fascinated. During the following 30 years, he made pious pilgrimages to Tibet by multiple round trips from and to the land of his faith crossing the sea, numerous shoots and travel stories.
The book through powerful images shows a photographer's almost 30-year-long traveling experience to the Tibet and a 30-year-long Tibetan romance.
The photographer with sincere enthusiasm and devout started to write this special experience in Tibet. He traveled the Holy Land several times during the past thirties years. The first time is the motivation of exploring the nature scene and people's life there, and he is one of the group people who went to Tibet in 1980s.Next, he was attracted by all the things of Tibet, and he went there for second time in 1990s, and there were lots of change happened in Tibet during the reform and opening-up. He wrote the complete changes with camera and words. When he came back, he was checked with severe cancer disease, he thought he would die. But after a period of care, he got to become better. Suddenly he found the meaning of short life of his own, and he was deep convinced by the faith in pursing the happy life, so he became another travel to Tibet again after his recovery. The days in Tibet gave him significant memory and enlightened his opinion on life and hope.
