HONEYMOON JUNKIE: Everything but the Girl
Feb. 18, 2013
Author:  Shaun Hawkins
Category:  Non-fiction: Memoir
Description:  honeymoon junkie (hŭn'ē-mūn' jŭng'kē) n., slang - a rare psychological disorder and addiction, most typically affecting men, and used as a defense mechanism to only remain in a relationship long enough to enjoy the "honeymoon effect" before departing for greener, well-manicured pastures.

HONEYMOON JUNKIE: Everything but the Girl, a 2010 self-published memoir, stole the headlines during the recent Super Bowl week as the source behind Dan Marino's dalliance and secret love child hidden for 7 years. There is more scandal and pillow talk tucked away in this humorous tell-all memoir. Our hero, author Shaun Hawkins, freshly minted Ivy-League MBA Wall Street executive, finds himself unexpectedly single as he begins his career at Goldman Sachs. His wife unceremoniously dumps him, packs up their daughter, and departs for Maine, spawning a new, unwritten chapter in the author's life.

Plunged into the intoxicating throes of the Manhattan singles scene, he scours the city determined to find the perfect woman the second time around. This impractical quest morphed into an addiction leading him from the dejection of divorce to the escapades of a jet-setting bachelor. South Beach, the Hamptons, Nantucket and Manhattan all provided the playground, but when the right woman arrived, would he be too emotionally bankrupt to recognize her?

The book is 95,000 words. An electronic document of the completed manuscript is available upon request.
