The Auction
Mar. 8, 2017
Author:  Max Fiorelli
Category:  Fiction: Thriller
Description:  The novel I'm going to present to You, "The Auction – A Gordon Spada's case", mixes different styles, such as mystery and thriller, and it turned out to be very funny, charming and interesting. The idea for the plot originates from a real fact, happened some months ago: the theft of some important paintings at Verona's Museum of Castelvecchio.
In this novel, that also aims to introduce the character of Gordon Spada to the English-speaking market, Max Fiorelli's Art Dealer is forcedly dispatched by the Italian Secret Service to a Macao's casino, in China. His mission? To become familiar with a ruthless Russian Art Dealer, Vlad Dimidoff, in order to be invited to a secret auction in Singapore, where very important paintings are going to be sold. The same paintings Dimidoff has stolen to a prestigious Italian Museum and that the Italian government wants to be returned back. CIA is engaged as well: they want to capture the Russian thief, considered to be at the apex of a strong criminal organization that secretly trades stolen precious paintings.
After a ferocious night across Macao's streets, desperately trying to rescue a friend, Spada soon finds himself fighting at the gambling table, facing brutal torturers, a poisoning and going all-in to save his seductive and irritating CIA collaborator, Daphne, fallen into the clutches of his real enemy: the cruel Chinese Art-collector, Dr. Ogre.
